10 “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
Pain and suffering, though none of us like them, are part of the Christian experience. But I don't think God sends them our way to make us anxious; He's not that kind of deity. So, how does God's word help us overcome worries?
In our previous blog, we learned that God's faithfulness is best experienced when we trust Him with all our cares.
Let’s bring this series to a close. Here’s our last point:
God cares.
Peter’s readers were stuck in a very difficult situation. The church was still in its infancy and was experiencing severe persecution. That’s why the believers were scattered to different parts of the world. Finding a job was not easy, and so was keeping a business up and running. They had families to feed. They might have started to wonder if they had made a mistake because their lives were far from peaceful. However, Peter comforted them and reminded them that God cared. The same reminder is given to us in the 21st century.
Today’s verse comforts us, telling us that God is with us. He is Immanuel. He delivers, sustains, and justifies His children. Not one of those who trust in Him will perish. He will never abandon them.
To say that God cares doesn’t mean He will never allow us to go through hardship. Neither does giving our burdens to God mean letting Him do everything for us (fighting our battles). Rather, He makes sure that we are not alone while we are in the midst of it. He proves that He cares by giving us the strength to face every challenge, the wisdom to understand each situation, and the faith to trust Him in the process.
Conclusion
Challenges and difficulties are a part of life, and being a Christian doesn’t mean we are exempted from them. But amid the hardship, we are promised that God is able, He provides, and He cares for us.
Knowing this should give us peace of mind. While our relationship with God promises eternal life in heaven, we can enjoy earthly life because God’s eyes are on us. He gives us the grace not only to endure suffering but also to overcome every pain and trial. With Him by our side, we can say goodbye to all our worries.
