“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”
2 Timothy 3:16
Yesterday, we learned that Jesus died and was raised back to life. The Resurrection is the central message of Christianity and thus needs to be affirmed by all believers.
Here’s the last essential doctrine on our list:
The Bible is the authoritative, inerrant, and inspired word of God.
When it comes to authority, the Bible is the final authority on all matters pertaining to Christian faith and morality. It should govern every viewpoint and decision we have and make.
We believe that the original biblical manuscripts are free from any errors or contradictions.
Today’s verse is one of the most important in the Bible on the subject of inspiration. It teaches that the Scriptures are God-breathed. Miraculously, He communicated His word to men and led them to write it down for permanent preservation. What they wrote was the very word of God, inspired and infallible. While it is true that the individual literary style of the writer was not destroyed, it is also true that the very words he used were words given to him by the Holy Spirit.
The writers of the Bible did not give their private interpretation of things but wrote the message which was given to them by God.
If we doubt the truth of the Bible, there is no point in believing in it in the first place.
The inerrancy of God's Word is also a core belief of Christianity because, if the Bibleʼs truthfulness is questionable, then all we know about God is in doubt. Saving faith is linked to the Word of God:
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
Romans 10:17
Faith comes to men when they hear the preaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ, which is based on the written word of God.
But the mere intellectual agreement to these doctrines does not necessarily lead to a person’s salvation. As a matter of fact, Satan and demons believe in God and even tremble in fear!
