No one wants to hear bad news, especially if it directly affects us. It's uncomfortable and concerning. But as people of God, how should we handle tough situations?
This is the second to the last part of our study on Psalm 112. Let's get right to it.
We can observe at least four ways in which a God-fearing man responds to practical blessings. Here’s another biblical principle for you to consider.
Receiving bad news is a part of life—sickness, loss of job, relationship issues, even death—can happen to everyone. A God-fearing man isn’t afraid to hear such news. He understands God’s sovereignty and submits to Him. He knows that nothing ever happens without the Lord’s consent. He knows that all things work together for his good. He understands that fear is not an option because it does not come from God. Therefore, he believes that the Lord knows what He is doing.
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalm 27:1
Likewise, we Christians do not fear bad news. We are prepared for them. We expect the best but prepare for the worst. So, we plant ourselves in God’s word to know how to respond to circumstances without fear.
Jesus is the strength of our life. It doesn’t matter what comes our way because we hold on to the promises of God. The Lord has a proven track record of faithfulness, giving us no reason to doubt or question His Word.
Just as how a loving father will not let anything harm his child, so God won’t permit us, His children to be put in spiritual danger. We are safe in His hands.
